Continuous rate infusions (CRIs) and local anesthetic blocks have become essential tools in multimodal pain management, yet their adoption in routine spay surgeries remains inconsistent. This session presents results from a recent survey of veterinary professionals, offering a state of the union perspective on how CRIs and locals are currently being used in ovariohysterectomies. We will explore practice patterns, highlight successes, and identify gaps and barriers to implementation. Attendees will leave with a clear understanding of where veterinary medicine stands today and actionable strategies to expand and optimize the use of these powerful analgesic techniques in their own practices. 1-Participants will be able to summarize survey results describing how CRIs and local blocks are currently used in spay surgeries and preferred agent 2-Participants will be able to discuss the most common obstacles to wider adoption of CRIs and locals — such as cost, training, and workflow — and recognize areas for improvement in clinical practice 3-Participants will be able to outline steps to integrate or expand CRIs and local anesthesia into their own spay protocols, improving patient outcomes and aligning with evidence-based pain management guidelines
