Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) is widely regarded as the gold standard for treating cruciate-deficient stifles in canines across all sizes. Originally restricted to board-certified surgeons, TPLO has since become accessible to many general practitioners. This session will discuss indications for TPLO, a brief overview of the procedure, its impact on joint biomechanics, and management of frequent postoperative complications, including pivot-shift phenomenon, infection, post-luminal meniscal tears, and suboptimal recovery.
