Shelly A. Moore, CAWA, is the Chief Executive Officer of the Humane Society of Charlotte and
a national leader in animal welfare and nonprofit management. With decades of experience in
the field—including executive leadership roles in Charlotte, Asheville and Maryland—she has
dedicated her career to advancing shelter operations, strategic growth, and capital fundraising.
With expertise in capital campaigns, she has successfully led four major shelter construction
projects. Shelly believes in building strong organizations through strategic leadership and
collaboration, ensuring long-term impact in animal welfare.

A Certified Animal Welfare Administrator since 2004, Shelly has served on the boards of The
Association for Animal Welfare Advancement, the National Federation of Humane Societies,
and the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits. She’s also a founding member of the North
Carolina Animal Federation and an advisor to DogCamp Boquete, a Panama-based rescue.

Shelly holds a B.A. from the University of Maryland, College Park, and the Nonprofit
Management Program at Johns Hopkins University. Shelly's areas of expertise include
executive-level nonprofit management, board governance, animal shelter design and
construction, leadership development, and comprehensive building campaigns.
