Description

In this session we will review the anatomy of the inner, middle, and external ear including the pinna. Otitis media without otitis externa is common in rabbits but is commonly goes undiagnosed until it progresses to otitis interna or otitis externa. Ventral bulla osteotomy is recommended for treatment of otitis media in patients without otitis externa. Ear canal ablation and lateral bulla osteotomy are indicated for the treatment of otitis externa with or without otitis media. How much of the external ear canal to remove is based on the location of the disease process.
