Speaker Bio
Dr. Alexa Delaune graduated from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Following graduation she completed a small animal rotating internship in specialty private practice. She worked as a veterinarian at the Georgia Aquarium from 2011-2019. In 2019 she moved to Gulfport, MS to become the Vice President of Veterinary Services and Research at the Mississippi Aquarium that opened in 2020. Dr. Delaune is on the board of IAAAM and co-leader of AZA SAFE Shark and Ray blood project. She also serves on the ABVP Fish Practice Organizing Committee as an elasmobranch and aquarium medicine subject matter expert. Dr. Delaune will be eligible to sit for the 2026 ABVP Fish Practice board certification examination after having served on the 2023 ABVP Fish Practice Examination Committee which established the inaugural 2023 examination.
