Dr. Ashley Emanuele graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Marine Biology from Roger Williams
University in RI and worked as an aquatics curator at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences before
attending NC State's College of Veterinary Medicine for her doctorate. Since graduation, Dr.
Emanuele has worked in exotics-exclusive private practice and became North Carolina's first
Certified Aquatic Veterinarian in 2017. She is a Past President of the American Association of Fish
Veterinarians, and member of both the AVMA Aquatic Veterinary Medicine Committee and the ABVP-Fish
Practice Organizing Committee. In 2024 she became North Carolina's first boarded fish veterinarian
through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and is one of 20 such veterinarians to hold
the distinction currently. In her spare time, Dr. Emanuele enjoys going on adventures with her
partner, talking to her chickens, reading with her kids, camping, hiking, and being a Cub Scout
leader.
