Dr. Scott Leibsle was born and raised in Southeastern Wisconsin in dairy country. He graduated from
Allegheny College with a degree in Biochemistry in 1999 and the University of Wisconsin – Madison
School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He completed an internship in 2004 in Ocala, Florida and took
his first associate veterinary position at Sawtooth Equine Service in Bellevue, Idaho. After 2 years in
Idaho, he was then offered a position to return to his hometown clinic founded in 1951 by his
grandfather. He joined Elkhorn Veterinary Clinic in 2006 and became the 3rd generation of his family to
practice large animal medicine in southeastern Wisconsin. During his time in Wisconsin, his practice
focus was dairy obstetrics, surgery and emergency medicine as well as equine sports medicine,
emergency medicine and dentistry. After 5 years in dairy and equine practice, Dr. Leibsle returned to
Idaho in 2011 as the Deputy State Veterinarian at the Idaho State Department of Agriculture in Boise to
oversee and implement statewide livestock disease surveillance, Grade A dairy and raw milk programs,
regulate the Idaho domestic cervidae industry, educate law enforcement to investigate animal care and
welfare cases and also advise Idaho’s elected officials on animal health-related legislation. Dr. Leibsle
was promoted to Idaho State Veterinarian in January 2021 and currently resides in Meridian, Idaho with
his wife Amanda and his children Allison and John
