Speakers
Description
Ferrets are a popular pet who frequently present to the veterinary ER for both acute conditions and exacerbation of chronic disease. Their unique physiology and disease processes can make them daunting to treat on an emergency basis. The objective of this talk is to break down common presentations, initial stabilization, diagnostics, treatments, and considerations for hospitalization. There will also be discussion of how to obtain blood samples, where to place IV catheters and safe handling recommendations for those with less experience with this species.
