Description
Zoonotic disease is a regularly encountered but often overlooked consideration in exotic animal practice. Veterinarians and veterinary staff may be exposed to zoonotic pathogens during routine care of exotic animal patients without immediately recognizing associated risks.
This interactive lecture will use a case-based, trivia-style format to highlight common zoonotic diseases encountered in exotic companion mammal and reptile and amphibian practice. Brief clinical scenarios modeled on real-world zoonotic cases will be presented to illustrate clinical signs, routes of transmission, and practical implications for patient management and staff safety.
Through interactive case examples and guided discussion, this presentation aims to improve recognition of zoonotic risk and support confident management of zoonotic disease in exotic animal practice.
