Name
Fun with Bugs, Plants, and Dirt: Bioactive Enclosures for Reptiles and Amphibians
Stacey Leonatti Wilkinson
Description
Bioactive enclosures for amphibians have been used commonly for years, especially among dart frog keepers. In recent years, the use of bioactive enclosures for reptiles among keepers has exploded, yet veterinarians are not always aware of the nuances that go into setting up and maintaining a bioactive system. This masterclass will go over the proper setup and maintenance of various bioactive systems from the perspective of both the reptile keeper and the veterinarian. The goal of this lecture is to help veterinarians be better educated and able to talk with clients on this subject, go over pros and cons of these systems, and learn how these environments play a role in the medical care and welfare of their patients.
