Updates in Bat Diseases in the Northeastern United States
Description

This presentation will explore the pathogenesis and clinical implications of disease in northeastern U.S. bat populations. Emphasis will be placed on the role of hemotropic pathogens such as Mycoplasma spp. and Babesia spp., along with parasitic burdens, in contributing to systemic illness. Key pathological findings including hepatic lipidosis, bacterial dermatitis, and cardiomyopathy will be reviewed using case-based data. Lastly, we will review new therapeutic findings for White-nose syndrome.
