Dr. Karreman is a 1982 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine.
Following a three-year stint in small animal, mixed animal and emergency practice she has been
involved in salmon aquaculture for almost 40 years. She practiced clinical aquatic veterinary
medicine, worked as an aquatic animal health consultant and/or employee for provincial and federal
governments, and worked in pharmaceutical regulatory affairs supporting aquatic animal health drug
development. In 2003 she obtained advanced training in GIS applications. She has led or been
involved with several major cross-company, cross-sector and/or private-public sector consensus
building projects in aquatic animal health. Retirement was short lived, she and continues
consulting for a variety of clients.
