Dr. Hannah Smith is originally from Fort Wayne, IN and graduated from Purdue University College of
Veterinary Medicine in 2023. Dr. Smith completed veterinary externships at the National Marine Mammal
Foundation, Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Mississippi Aquarium, and Shedd Aquarium. Dr. Smith
completed a small animal rotating internship at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign before
accepting the Aquatic Animal Health Fellowship position sponsored by the UC Davis Veterinary School
and affiliated sites (California Academy of Sciences, Aquarium of the Pacific, Monterey Bay
Aquarium). Dr. Smith is currently the Veterinary Intern at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science
Center for July 2026-27.
