Prior to her residency, Dr. Rands earned her DVM from Mississippi State University and completed a specialty internship in clinical nutrition at Kansas State University.

Matthew Rendle started his veterinary nursing career in 1989, with experience in nursing care for many species from ants to elephants (and most things in-between), he has been fortunate to travel extensively across the world as part of his roles. Matt has been involved in veterinary politics for many years and currently is an elected member of the RCVS VN council. Matt is the Chair of AZEVN which he helped found in 2016 to provide CPD for nurses working with zoo, exotics, and wildlife species. Matt also is a member of the board of ACOVENE, who help promote and support veterinary nursing education in Europe. At home Matthew cares for his collection of 30 reptiles and hangs out with his Bengal cat, Olive.

Dr. Jordan Roberts is the clinician for the comparative ophthalmology service and an assistant professor at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Medical Center. She completed a small animal rotating internship and a comparative ophthalmology residency at Kansas State University. While in Kansas, Dr. Roberts received a Masters degree in veterinary biomedical sciences. Her clinical interests include restorative eyelid and facial surgeries and exploring novel treatments for surface ocular conditions in companion species.

She graduated in Veterinary Medicine in Pisa, Italy, in 2020, with an experimental thesis titled “SDMA and biochemical parameters of renal function in rabbits: a preliminary study.” She further specialized in Exotic Animal Medicine by earning the GpCert in Exotic Animal Practice and participated in numerous national and international conferences, continuously enriching her training and applying the most innovative knowledge in the veterinary field.

Dr Olivia Roose graduated from the Faculté de médecine vétérinaire of the Université de Montréal in 2023, and followed her doctorate in veterinary medicine with an internship in zoological medicine at the same institution in 2023-2024. She currently works with exotic companion animals as well as dogs and cats in two private veterinary practices in Quebec, Canada. Dr Roose is particularly interested in small mammal surgery, ultrasonography and backyard poultry medicine.
