Name
GI transit time and radiographic anatomy in Australian snake-necked turtles (Chelodina longicollis)
Speakers
Description
In this prospective study, a total of twelve Australian snake neck turtles (Chelodina longicollis) deemed healthy on physical exam and routine CBC/Chem labwork were administered a 8ml/kg barium sulfate solution (diluted to 30% weight volume) via an orogastric tube. The barium transit times through the gastrointestinal tract were recorded by radiographs taken immediately post administration as well as regular intervals until all barium was eliminated. From the images, transit times will be calculated and the general radiographic anatomy of the gastrointestinal tract determined.
