Cardiovascular disease is relatively common in ferrets, but historically, respiratory disease has been considered uncommon. Recently, there appears to have been an increase in respiratory cases secondary to infectious disease processes in ferrets. This masterclass will provide an overview of the most common thoracic diseases of ferrets including: cardiomyopathy, congestive heart failure, heartworm disease, neoplasia, pneumonia, canine distemper virus, and influenza. The goal of this masterclass is to provide information about disease management and current medical updates of ferret thoracic disease for both the general practitioner and referral level providers.
