Typical rabbit abscesses are thick and caseous, and traditional drain systems are seldom useful. However, not all rabbit abscesses have these characteristics, and some more resemble liquid pus as seen in other species. For these, the use of drains can be very helpful to speed healing. Case reports featuring the successful use of Penrose drains in rabbits are presented.
