I recently made this exact career move a little over 4 years ago. This has been the most challenging role in my entire career and I think the most important piece of advice I can give anyone is, and I have said this to so many students and colleagues, be the mentor you wish you had. I was not formerly trained to be in management. I have to credit my success with the understanding of clinical practice and people. I'd like to offer guidance to anyone who may be in my shoes, or anyone who is thinking of making the move into management.
