The bearded dragon (Pogona vitticeps) is a commonly seen species of reptile in veterinary medicine. Female bearded dragons are commonly seen for reproductive related disorders such as follicular stasis, egg binding, and additional illnesses such as egg yolk coelomitis, which can lead to death. This retrospective study looks at 62 preventative ovariectomies in female bearded dragons over the last 4 years. Evaluating husbandry parameters, diets, age of patient, pre-surgical diagnostics, anesthetic protocols, surgical approach and outcomes, post-surgical diagnostics, and routine wellness exams post surgery. Results will help provide resources to clinicians to contribute towards or help establish preventative ovariectomy protocols within their clinic or organization.
