Description
Investigating infectious diseases in the beehive can be challenging due to the fact that most infectious diseases kill the larvae and the colony does not show very pathognomonic signs of a specific disease. In addition a lot of pathogenic bacteria do not grow well in the laboratory condition making a traditional culture and sensitivity often unrewarding. The lecture will highlight a few cases of infectious diseases affecting mutliple bee hives and how NGS was used to dtermine the true origin of the condition, .
