Description
Esophageal hyperplasia has been documented in rabbits, and has been associated with reflux, regurgitation, weight loss, and death. The diagnosis has been documented on both CT and post-mortem, but antemortem treatment has not been explored. In this case series, we diagnosed three rabbits with suspected esophageal hyperplasia based on CT. Each rabbit was treated with antacids (ranitidine +/- omeprazole), which resulted in significant improvement in clinical signs. One of the rabbits had near complete remission of esophageal thickening on a recheck CT scan.
