A 6-year-old intact male sugar glider (Petaurus breviceps) presented with anorexia and vomiting. On physical examination, pain was elicited in the cranial abdomen during palpation. Radiographic imaging revealed hepatomegaly with increased opacity in the liver. Ultrasound examination showed multiple hyper-echoic nodules scattered across all hepatic lobes. Biochemical analysis revealed hypokalemia and hypoalbuminemia. A laparotomy was performed, revealing numerous yellowish nodules on the surface of the hepatic lobes. Partial lobectomy was conducted, and the excised tissue was submitted for histopathological examination. Histopathology findings included hepatocellular degeneration, severe hemosiderin deposition in both Kupffer cells and hepatocytes, fibrosis, and regenerative nodules, leading to a diagnosis of hemochromatosis. The patient was started on deferiprone therapy. After six months of treatment, the sugar glider showed good tolerance to the medication and maintained a good quality of life. Follow-up ultrasonography revealed a reduction in the number of hepatic nodules. The medication was subsequently discontinued, and the patient remained alive and stable at the time of this article's publication.
