The Veterinary Science Program at Donna North High School is a rigorous, four-year Texas Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathway that prepares students for careers in veterinary medicine and animal sciences. Situated in Hidalgo County, Texas, a region facing high rates of pet overpopulation and limited access to affordable veterinary care. Our program combines academic excellence with community-based learning to address both educational and public health needs. Recognizing the dual opportunity to prepare future professionals and respond to pressing community needs, we launched a student led Spay/Neuter, Vaccination, and Microchip (SNVM) campaign in collaboration with: Be Spay Neuter Consulting, Yaqui Animal Rescue, Local city and county partners. Student responsibilities include social media campaigns, fundraising clinical inventory and setup, patient intake and discharge, pre-operative and post-operative care, vaccine administration, client education and communication and community outreach and logistics.
