This lecture will review chemotherapy safety in veterinary practice and its importance, including understanding the USP 800 guidelines that help maintain the level of safety required to maintain a safe environment for staff and patients. We will consider equipment, techniques and other elements that can help to optimize safety in general practice when working with chemotherapy agents. We will additionally discuss chemotherapy side effects, treatment for these side effects, and address safety concerns for the pet receiving chemotherapy and exposure risks for their families.
