The objective of this laboratory is to increase the clinician’s ability to perform CFAS (Coelomic Focused Assessment Sonography) and comprehensive ultrasound evaluations of the major organ systems in our reptile and amphibian patients, including Amphibians, Squamates and Chelonians. This laboratory will provide introductory information to the clinician about ultrasound physics, ultrasound machine types, knobology, probe selection, clinical ultrasound application, and a review of the most current literature. The majority of the laboratory time will be spent performing comprehensive ultrasound examinations on, amphibians, squamates and chelonians. Our goal is to have every clinician become comfortable, yielding the force of ultrasound, to perform a comprehensive ultrasound examination in amphibian and reptile patients.
