John graduated from North Carolina State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, then completed specialty internships at Mystic Aquarium and Indianapolis Zoo before joining the Fort Worth Zoo as an associate veterinarian. In 2023 he became the Assistant Director of Animal Programs & Conservation. He is the Louisiana pinesnake and flamingo SSP veterinary advisor, and a responder for the Zoo Disaster Response/Rescue/Recovery network. John is passionate about improving wellbeing within the veterinary and zoological professions.
