Real world ethical situations encountered through a 35-year career in food fish aquaculture medicine will be presented. This will be done via an interactive format where cases are presented and the audience will respond electronically with their choices to various scenarios, followed by audience discussion of survey results. Situations will vary from: legal quandaries, treatment options, client interactions, professional judgement dilemmas, to welfare issues. It will showcase what a practitioner can encounter in fish medicine and some peculiarities related to the relative newness of fish veterinary medicine, the diversity of fish species, and a fish’s place in the phylogeny of vertebrates.
