Description
Litopenaeus Vannamei, the Pacific White Shrimp, is the most commonly cultured shrimp (prawn) worldwide today. Their small size and unique anatomy present interesting challenges for veterinarians, especially those not familiar with invertebrates. This talk will explore the life cycle, habitat and taxonomy of the Pacific White Shrimp, the basics of shrimp anatomy including their digestive, circulatory and immune systems, some common shrimp diseases, as well as how health of shrimp is monitored and protected in an indoor production system.
