Colin McDermott is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Avian and Exotic Medicine at the Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Science at City University of Hong Kong. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, he completed a two-year specialty internship in exotics at UPenn, and a fellowship at the National Aquarium in Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. In 2019, he moved to Hong Kong to work at Zodiac Pet and Exotic Hospital, where he still performs clinical duties as part of his academic role. He is currently a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian through the World Aquatic Veterinary Medical Association and a Diplomate of the American Board of Reptile and Amphibian Practice. He has contributed to several book chapters and manuscripts on exotic animal medicine, and provided lectures and practical laboratories on exotic animal medicine for local and international veterinary conferences.

With a keen interest in reptile and orphan care, she has successfully led numerous rehabilitation efforts, always prioritizing animal welfare and community engagement. Currently pursuing a Master’s in Conservation Medicine at the University of Edinburgh, Dr. Mehta strives to advance wildlife conservation through both research and practical veterinary care, with a focus on mitigating human-wildlife conflicts and promoting a One Health approach.

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh Royal School of Veterinary Studies, she is particularly passionate about reptile medicine and is currently pursuing board certification in reptile medicine and surgery. Dr. Music has extensive experience in emergency, critical care, and routine care for exotic species. She is an active contributor to the field, authoring and presenting at conferences, and mentoring veterinary interns and residents. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Music enjoys singing, painting, writing, quilting, and spending time with her family.
