After a residency in Zoological medicine at the University of California, Davis, she became a diplomate of the American college of zoological medicine in 2014. She works as a Professor in Zoological Medicine at the Université de Montréal and as veterinarian at the Aquarium du Québec since 2019.

No Bunny Panic! The Basics of Rabbit Anesthesia & Analgesia
Liz graduated with her bachelor’s degree in biology from Towson
University in 2009. During that time, she took an internship with the
Philadelphia Zoo and was able to land a job out of graduation as a
Children’s Zoo keeper and bird show trainer. She continues her bird
training with Animal Behavior and Conservation Connections today
outside of veterinary medicine. The following years, she worked for an
ABVP avian boarded veterinarian as a technician and received her CVT
in 2015. She then migrated to Mount Laurel Animal Hospital, a large
privately-owned referral hospital in South Jersey, to help establish their
exotic animal department. During that time, she achieved her VTS in
exotic companion animals. She continues her work at Mount Laurel
Animal Hospital as a nursing supervisor.

She recently completed a hybrid Zoological Companion Animal Medicine and Emergency specialty internship at Pieper Veterinary in Middletown, Connecticut where this project was preformed. She is currently the inaugural intern at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens, continuing to work towards a career in zoo medicine.

Crystal Wilcox, BS, LVT, VTS (CP-Exotic Companion Animal) graduated in 1997 with a BS in Zoology. She obtained her LVT in 2009 and her VTS in 2022. She has enjoyed working with exotic companion animals since 1998 and has also had the opportunity to assist in research using CT technology with a variety of species including sharks, octopus, sloth, tarantula, rats, and a variety of lizards and birds. She is currently the Lead Veterinary Technician at Center for Bird and Exotic Animal Medicine in Bothell, Washington. Here, Crystal enjoys working with the wide variety of exotic species seen and mentoring co-workers who are pursuing VTS (CP-Exotic Companion Animal).
