Dr. Tarbert is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Zoological Medicine at the University of Tennessee. She has a special interest in improving quality and understanding of diagnostic tests utilized in exotic animal species. She lives in Knoxville with her husband, daughter, dogs, cats, snake, tarantula, and hopefully, by August, flock of chickens.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, Kristen Turner practiced small and exotic animal medicine in Texas for 10 years. She established a successful externship program at her last practice, hosting over 20 students from 6 institutions. Her family recently relocated to Belize, where she provides virtual support and RACE-approved continuing education to veterinarians through her business The Exotic Vet Consultant. Kristen is passionate about expanding exotic veterinary education and improving mentorship within the field.
